Last Chance to Vote in 2026 OVA Election
The deadline for voting in the 2026 OVA elections (for directors and for Bylaws amendments) was extended by a month. As of this writing, 1720 ballots have been received in the Board of Directors election, and 1662 ballots have been received in the Bylaws amendments election. You have ten days to get your ballots in, if you haven’t done so already. This means that the quorum for both elections (803 ballots) has long since been met, and three of the Board candidates will be selected when the votes are counted on May 5. However, because the minimum number of affirmative votes required to pass any Bylaws amendment is 1607, almost 97% of the Bylaws ballots submitted would have to be yes votes for either of the amendments to be enacted! And with the abrupt and unexpected dissolution by the Board of the Governing Documents Committee, it seems unlikely that OVA members will be given the opportunity to vote on Bylaws amendments for some time.
With all of that in mind, if you value your right to participate in the governance of your community, and if you have not yet turned in your ballot, now would be a good time to examine the candidates and proposed Bylaws amendments and to vote your conscience! The links below should give you plenty of information on which to base your decision. Above list of links is incomplete, especially for Nextdoor posts, which are numerous and for which the Nextdoor search feature seems not to return all expected results. If you know of additional web pages or Nextdoor posts which would provide additional information or endorsements, please add a comment to this article with a link, or send an Email with the information to The Oakmont Observer. After minimal vetting, we will add your link to the appropriate category above, ordered by publication date.
