2025 OVA Board Election Results

Congratulations to newly elected OVA directors Jeff Neuman, Neill Ray, Jess Marzak and Robert Williams.

Today the ballots were counted and final results are in. There were 1,757 validated ballots, or 54.4% of the eligible Oakmont owners (vs 1,916 or 59.8% last year), easily surpassing the required quorum of 807 (25%). The 2025-2026 OVA Board of Directors:

An Organizational Board meeting was held, in which a resolution was proposed and passed to elect officers today. Candidates were nominated for President, Vice President and Secretary, and secret ballots of the new directors were held for each office. Matt Oliver is the new President, Jerry Gladstone is the new Vice President, and Jess Marzak is continuing in the office of Secretary, which he has held since last fall.

The following table shows the detailed results of this year’s election:

Brief Commentary

Unlike the dramatic separation between the winners and losers in last year’s Board election, all of the candidates except for Jeff Neuman had vote counts in a relatively narrow range, between 762 and 860. Jeff, with both prior service on the Board and a long history of service to the community in various capacities, ran away from the others with 1,065 votes. With fewer dramatic differences among the candidates, voter participation was also down, from about 60% last year to about 54% this year, but still was above the 40% to 50% that was common in earlier years. Robert Williams was something of a disrupter in this election, declaring his opposition to spending any OVA money on new or expanded buildings in Oakmont’s central area, and that fact the he won a seat on the Board indicates that a large fraction of the OVA membership is concerned that the deluxe future plans offered by ArchiLOGIX last year might result in unaffordable dues increases in the future.

In my opinion, the messages sent by both the 2024 and the 2025 Board elections include:

  • The Board should strive for the maximum legal transparency (there are some activities which, by law, must be kept confidential). The withholding of information from the membership, which we have seen over several months with respect to the ArchiLOGIX “cost models”, is simply unacceptable.
  • The membership continues to be concerned that the premium plans presented by ArchiLOGIX could come with unacceptable costs. The best way to assure us that this will not be the case is to give the membership the final funding authority for high cost capital improvements, through an appropriate amendment to the OVA Bylaws.

There is reason to believe, from various candidate and director statements, that the 2025-2026 Board will have gotten these messages. Stay tuned!
