Sonoma Area Fire Evacuation (SAFE) Study
Below is a press release from the Valley of the Moon Alliance (VOTMA). The SAFE study is professionally done, includes Oakmont, and models traffic during an evacuation, showing highway 12 average speeds down to one or two miles per hour for multiple hours. With care and some police etc. guidance,, HWY 12 can be 2 lane traffic in both directions during evacuations. There are also other side roads that can be opened to traffic though normally they are not available. It requires pre-planning and public agency preperation.
