Election 2024 Oakmont: My Endorsements

I will have lived soon for a quarter Century in Oakmont. For many years I wrote about our people and our village.

Every April or so, elections for the OVA Board of Directors took place.

I never publicized my choices for the top leadership positions in our village. I did not believe that I should influence my readers and neighbors on how to vote.

Today I am changing my mind for the simple reason that these elections will, after 60 years, determine the direction Oakmont will pursue into the future.

At play are the visions that see our community evolve, alongside the greater Sonoma Valley, into an enclave for the well-to-do, in contrast to its founder’s original intentions.

In 1963 Norbert Berger conceived his development to be a home for “All Walks Of Life.”

To preserve a semblance of this democratic vision, it is necessary to elect people to our highest office, who share this dream.

Against this background I propose to vote for Matt Oliver, Jerry Gladstone and Heidi Klyn.

Short, sweat and well said. May your influence exceed your reputation in this community.

I’m disappointed in the direction this campaign has taken. Too often pettiness has dominated and the effort to rekindle past fires has been inexcusable.

“All Walks Of Life” captures the essence of what this campaign is about.

    Thank you.
