Oakmont Democratic Club Hosts Sheriff Candidates

Mark Essick, a captain in the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office, John Mutz, a former Los Angeles police station commander, and Ernesto Olivares, a former Santa Rosa Police lieutenant and current city councilman, spoke at the candidate’s forum, which was hosted by Oakmont Democratic Club on April 19, 2018 at the East Recreation Center in Oakmont.
This is the first contested sheriffs election in 25 years for Sonoma County. The Sheriff’s race has three people looking to replace retiring Sheriff Rob Giordano, who replaced former Sheriff Steve Freitas.
Paul Gullixson, now Director of Communications at Sonoma State University, moderated the forum followed by questions and answers from the mainly Oakmont audience.
