Learn, Then VOTE!
The following image is from a 2018 OVA Board campaign flyer. It is interesting how little the issues have changed in seven years!

As in every Board election, the future of Oakmont is at stake in this year’s election, and with it, your future ability to enjoy and afford living here. Take heed – learn about the issues and the candidates and VOTE!!
To learn about the candidates and their positions on Oakmont issues, attend (or view via Zoom) the Candidates Night meeting in Berger on February 19 at 6 pm, pay attention to flyers distributed by the candidates, read related articles in The Oakmont Observer and (less reliable) posts on Nextdoor, and go to candidate meet-and-greet meetings, as listed here.

Footnote: In 2018 when the flyer above was current, the Oakmont Golf Club (OGC) had come to OVA, hat in hand, asking for a $10/member/month direct subsidy to help OGC avoid bankruptcy. Most Oakmonters did not like that proposal, because it didn’t seem right for us to simply give them money. Under financial pressure, OGC put the golf courses up for sale in early 2019 and the 2019 OVA Board promptly decided to buy them and to put into place a professional golf management company, at an approximate cost of $17/member/month in increased dues. This resolved the issue, at least until the Courseco lease comes up for renewal about five years from now.
