Thank you, Leslie Brockman!
If you have taken your grandchildren to Grandparents’ Week or the Easter egg event in Oakmont, chances are you have seen Leslie Brockman busily making sure everyone is having a good time.
At the October 20 OVA Board meeting, President Spanier presented Leslie with Oakmont’s first Legacy Award, recognizing her many years of exceptional service. He explained that this special honor will be awarded when deserved, rather than automatically each year.
As president of the Grandparents Club, Leslie has helped give our grandchildren wonderful reasons to look forward to visiting Oakmont. These events give us time to enjoy our grandchildren, meet other families and make memories together. Anyone who has helped organize an event knows how much planning and work happens before the fun begins.
President Spanier joked that Leslie must somehow clone herself during Grandparents’ Week because she seems to be everywhere. Many other speakers shared heartfelt appreciation for her contributions at the Community Church, the Friendship Bible Club and the Jazz Band and much more. Together, their remarks painted a picture of someone who generously gives her time and energy and makes people feel welcome with her selfless community service.
Leslie, thank you for the work, kindness and enthusiasm you have shared with our community. This recognition is well deserved, and so many Oakmont families have happy memories because of you.
